What if the PDs are worried about your progress

Step 1

Concerns about either quality or quantity of learning log entries/ use of PDP

If possible, face to face/telephone discussion with trainee, offering support and asking if any problems followed up by educator’s note

If not possible,  supportive tone educator’s note and by email from PDs

 

Step 2

Ongoing concerns, no or limited response to step 1

Trainer informed, trainee invited to formal meeting with PDs

Meeting documented in educator’s notes

Document any extenuating circumstances in educator’s notes

 

Step 3

Ongoing concerns, no or limited response to step 2

Discussion with trainer, subsequent formal meeting(s) with trainee +/- ES and/or AD

Referral to panel

Document any extenuating circumstances in educator’s notes

 

NB concerns may come from educational supervisor’s concerns, routine surveillance of eportfolios or clinical supervisor’s concerns
