Accommodation
At the present time single and married accommodation is usually available through the hospital for the first 2 years but is not guaranteed in the first or final 11 months.Some of the training practices can offer accommodation whilst on call and will certainly be able to advise you if you are looking to rent or buy locally.Removal expenses are often claimable from the Health Authority if you move from another NHS job into the area.
Exams
In addition to the hospital posts in paediatrics and obstetrics which are recognised for the appropriate diplomas, the three year schemes are recognised for the MRCGP examination and registrars are encouraged to take this.So far, the pass rate for Reading has been very high.
Registar Representation
One of the final year registrars is elected as the practice GP registrar representative and trainees from the first and second year are elected as the Hospital Trainee Representatives. In addition to representing the registrars in the Reading areas, one representative sits on the Oxford Regional Trainee Representatives Committee.
