Medical Defence Fees Claims

It is a condition of your employment that you have medical indemnity insurance for the jobs you are doing. You will need to pay your own (very inexpensive) subscriptions while you are in hospital jobs.  Since GP work is not covered by crown indemnity the premiums are much higher.  You are entitled to reimbursement of the difference between the fees you would be paying as a hospital doctor and the fees you have paid as a GP registrar.

This can be claimed from the TVPCA on the form below.  The form should be completed and signed by the Trainee and countersigned by the Trainer. Ask your medical defense body for written confirmation of their subscription and costs and send this along with the completed reimbursement claim form to the TVPCA. Reimbursement will then be made to the practice that will then pass onto you with your salary.  Your practice manager should be able to help you with this.

The person responsible for this at the TVPCA (along with your salary, travel claims etc) is Natalie Lyttle 0118 918 3350.
