Induction
An induction should be arranged for all trainees. This should consist of an initial interview either on their first day at the practice or in advance, and a longer programme over the first week. This applies to ST1,2 and 3 trainees although naturally some things may be able to be covered very quickly if this particular trainee has worked in the practice previously. Induction should wherever possible include input from as many practice staff as possible and of course, with the GP trainer (clinical supervisor).
Suggestions of things to be covered in the initial interview (even if you have previously provided written information- see Before the Trainee Arrives) include:

Unless you already know your trainee very well, you are likely to want to make some initial assesments in order for you both to plan their learning. The following Training Resources may be helpful. Additionally you might find it helpful to use AKT practice paper (from exam preparation book), the curriculum blueprint on ePortfolio (to see competencies and curriculum areas covered).
Sample timetables for induction and normal working weeks can be found on the Training Resources page
