Endocrinology
This is a six month post with three months spent based on our wards and three months on the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU). During their time on CDU they will have the opportunity to clerk and examine patients on the unselected take under the supervision of an SpR and consultant. There will also be the opportunity if desired to observe and carry out under supervision a variety of practical procedures. Whilst on the wards they will be involved in the day to day management of patients with a wide variety of conditions. There is a daily weekday ward round of which three each week are led by a consultant. There are weekly dedicated consultant-led teaching sessions, a weekly grand round, a weekly XRay meeting and diabetes/endocrine seminars every two to three weeks. Trainees are encouraged to sit in on outpatient clinics whilst working on the wards.
